Family is an image of a wolf, with just one wolf in the center and many wolves around the border. Basically, it is about his separation from his pack and what it would feel like to be separated from your people or tribe, that sense of loneliness and longing to be home amongst family....

This would be the same feeling I learned of from my mother, who had been separated from her family and people after she married my father. She had such a longing to be around them and she missed them, like the wolf, when they are calling and you just want to go home. If you look into the wolf's eyes you see great sadness, and a longing to be with them again.
