As a Native Bahá’í, I feel I have a responsibility to share my art and visions with the world.

This painting came to me from a vision I had of 'Abdu'l- Bahá, who is the Son of the Prophet Bahá'u'lláh. He is seen here sitting with my niece, who in my mind represented the native people of North America. In the vision, no words were spoken, but many emotions were conveyed through eye contact.

I realized that time was frozen to a moment long ago before our Native people became victims of oppression. I knew all the wrongs would be undone to those of us who have learned the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh, and we would once again live in harmony as was intended by the Creator. Only this time, there would be no war between nations, as we would live as one Nation throughout all of North America.

The animals that surround the image were meant to represent the different clans or native groups of Vancouver Island. The robes they are wearing were carefully hand sewn before I painted them, so that I would understand and respect the importance of this message. The back of the robe 'Abdu'l-Bahá wears has a nine-pointed star, or a Native sun, with nine points, which represents the Bahá’í Faith.

The Bahá’í Faith teaches the belief in all the world's major religions which are part of God's continuing revelation of His Will for humankind. We believe each individual has a right and an obligation to pursue truth independently, free of coercion, and so religious freedom is essential for the progress of Humanity.

The Nine Pointed Star is placed at the center of the world's religious symbols to express the belief that the Bahá’í Revelation fulfills the prophesies found in the scriptures of all past religions. I was instructed in my vision not to show the star. Seekers who are ready will find the Faith through higher spiritual knowledge and awareness.

I was honored to have had this vision; it renewed my belief in what humanity is capable of when there is unity.
